Mangalore, Jun 24: N Subrahmanya Raju, state president of Akhila Bharat Hindu Mahasabha and Dr Santosh Ray, senior leader of the Mahasabha, along with other state and district leaders spoke on various issues, condemning some and supporting others, at a press press meet here on Tuesday June 24.
N Subrahmanya Raju began by saying that the Akhila Bharatha Hindu Mahasabha has been growing stronger every day in the Karnataka state, and it will continue to do so.
Accusing the state government of playing caste politics, he said the state government with a view to appease minorities and for creating vote bank, has been planning to give Rs 3,500 per month to all Madarasas. "If at all chief minister Siddaramaiah wants to give financial support, let him give it to Hindus as well. The state government is trying to play caste politics by giving government aides only to the Muslims," he said.
He further said that CM Siddaramaiah-led state government's regime has been 'directionless'. "One prime reason for this is that the BJP-led opposition party has been inactive. The people of the state are still suffering various day-to-day problems, and even after bringing them to the notice of the concerned, no actions have been taken. The administration needs to be active in this regard," he added.
Criticizing former minister chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, he said, "Not just the present government, the previous Yeddyurappa-led state government was also the worst one ever to rule Karnataka. Yeddyurappa is one of the most corrupt leaders the BJP has and will ever see," Dr Raju said.
He welcomed the hike in railway fares and said, "Hindu Mahasabha welcomes the increase in the railway fare, as we believe that it will boost the quality of service, safety and cleanliness and, importantly, efficiency of the railways. We will protest against the fare hike if these aspects are not met in the coming days," he promised.
He further urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take keen interest in the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Speaking on local issues, he criticized the district administration and the authorities for not taking appropriate action to control terror activities in the coastal belt. "The coastal region has been turning into a terrorist hub of the nation," he said.
"The Urwa fish market lacks basic amenities. We have brought it to the attention of the MLA and the officials, yet no action has been taken in this regard. If this kind of inaction and apathy continues, a massive protest followed by gherao of MLA and the administration offices will be carried out in the coming days," he warned.
"Some communal-minded miscreants broke open the locks of the Hindu Mahasabha office and committed a theft recently. A complaint was filed and the issue brought to the notice of the police commissioner as well, yet no action has been taken by the police department. The Hindu Mahasabha strongly condemns the delay in investigation," he said.
Addressing the media, Dr Santosh Ray said Narendra Modi is people’s choice, and in the recent elections, people selected Modi not because of BJP but for good governance. "Hindu Mahasabha has strongly supported Modi nationwide. If there had been any other leader in place of Modi, we wouldn’t have supported the BJP," he said.
"Maps show that Jammu and Kashmir is in the territory of India, but in reality, the major parts of Jammu and Kashmir have been conquered by Paksitan, hence, there is strong need for us to fight for our Jammu Kashmir and get it back to our nation," he said.
Commenting on the issue of cow slaughter, he said, "Cow is an animal which is used for various purposes in our nation and hence its slaughter must be banned nationwide and cow must be declared as the national animal. The government has been giving special provision and allowances for Muslims for the reason that they are minorities, but in reality, they are not minorities, but the second largest majority community. The true minorities are the Parsis and others communities."
Calling for strong action against terrorism, he said, "Maoism, Naxalism and terrorism must be completely wiped out from the nation. The major areas in the coastal belt namely Bhatkal, Suratkal etc have been turning into terrorist hubs. We have hopes that Modi will bring some changes in the nation and that he will set everything right. We will wholeheartedly support his good and nationalistic deeds, but in case if he does any mistake, we will definitely condemn that as well."
"The tax that the majority community pays, and also the money collected from temples is being distributed to mosques and Madrasas. This has to stop immediately. The money in the form of tax or through endowment has to come back to the majority community itself," he said.
"Stop politics of appeasement and stop unwanted subsidies, only then the true development of nation is possible. We openly declare that we are Hindu nationalists and we want a Hindu nation, but no one else, be it BJP or Shiv Sena has said that," he said.
Rajesh Poojary, Shravan Kumar Kodikal, Rajesh Pavithran and others were present.
