Kundapur, Jun 23: A woman ASI (assistant sub-inspector) and a head constable were allegedly assaulted by two persons who came to the police station to file a complaint here on Monday June 23.

The two accused have been arrested and two separate complaints have been registered in connection to the case. Three persons who were injured are recuperating in hospital.

It is said that at around 5 pm, Gururaj Chatra and Pratap Shetty alias Pakka had come to the Kundapur town police station to file a complaint about a fight that took place in a hotel in the town. They asked ASI Sudha Prabhu, who was on duty, to register an FIR against a certain man, for which Sudha replied that they need to first give a written complaint. Gururaj and Pratap refused to comply, and began arguing with her.

ASI Sudha then decided to visit the spot (hotel) herself and inspect, and telephoned the police jeep driver to bring the vehicle. However, the two men reportedly misunderstood her instructions to the driver, and all of a sudden, began to assault her. Head constable Jayakar rushed to her rescue, but the accused allegedly assaulted him too. The accused not only obstructed the police personnel from doing their duty, but also created a ruckus in the police station.

Both ASI Sudha Prabhu and head constable Jayakar were admitted to hospital. The accused were arrested and taken to government hospital for medical examination.

Another complaint

Meanwhile, former councillor and businessman K G Nithyanand also filed a complaint against the accused Gururaj and Pratap in the Kundapur town police station. The complaint states that when Nithyanand was sitting in his hotel, Gururaj and Pratap barged inside and assaulted him, apart from threatening, vandalizing the hotel and forcibly taking away his vehicle.

Nithyanand too was admitted to hospital with bruises on his face. Speaking to daijiworld, Nithyanand said that many people had complained about a club that was operating in the town, and on their behalf, he had fought to get it closed. Hence, a planned attack was carried out against him by those who wanted the club to remain in business, he felt.

Kundapur police led by circle inspector Diwakar are investigating further.

Sometimes police use filthy language when on Traffic control duty, women police officers are no exception as they follow their higher officers who talk to them arrogantly as well.
They FORGET they are PUBLIC SERVANTS too, who get paid by the very public they are dealing with.
In a Democracy they are answerable to people who must be the real masters & not vice versa which a legacy they have from British Era.
Courtesy & Politeness should replace arrogance & high handedness we see in most stations.
They should remember to Reform in 21st Century.
But here these people have violated law by assaulting police on duty, which though triggered by any provocation is wrong as well.

Shobakka is incharge of MP-central and Shetty, both BJP are incharge MLA of Kundapur. Shobakka has promised 100% protection for women in S.K., Not Police?. She makes procession for Bus price hike and other petty issues but not for this or railway hike. Hypocrisy. Curses for those who li and rebirth as Taliban out of 1 crore plus rebirths as promised to most Indians. 31% voted them. Now, GOD help the 69% who were united to break others. Clean Vajpayeeji thought he will rule another 10 years but was removed after five years. What about Corporate Modi? Pray that all evil are exposed and all their swiss / black money assets are seized to be used for poor.

We need to listen to both parties before making a decision. They will not dare to assault the police personnel inside the police station unless they were so much humiliated. Sometimes these so called protector of law & order use to show their arrogance to the common people instead of helping and/or protecting them. People are fearful of the corrupt nature of the police that they prefer to abstain from going to complain to them.

Assaulting a police that too inside a police station is a big crime & shame to the government & police department.
At least in such cases police should take law into their own hands..!!
