Bangalore: MLC nomination - Government finalizes list

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jun 17: It is gathered that the government has finalized the names of people to be nominated to the legislative council.

Names of V S Ugrappa, former MP, Iqbal Ahmed Saradagi, sandalwood actress, Jayamala, and labour leader, Shantakumar, have been cleared by the the top leadership of Congress party, it I learnt. It is also said that it has been decided to renominate Abdul Jabbar, who was recently nominated to the upper house, and whose term will end shortly.

Sources said that a letter recommending these five names has already been sent to the state Governor, and an official notification about the same is expected to be released within a couple of days.

It is said that cold water was poured on the ambitions of Ivan D'Souza from Mangalore to get nominated as MLC because of opposition to his nomination from certain local leaders. While chief minister, Siddaramaiah, was in favour of nominating D'Souza because of his association during his days in the Janatadal in the past, the name had to be dropped because of heavy lobbying against his nomination reportedly by delegations led by Oscar Fernandes among others, it is said.

Understandably, Ivan, who had earlier fought the election to become an MLA and lost, and whose name was also in circulation for the election to the legislative council recently, and who has been waiting in the wings to rise in the party to become a leader of prominence, is upset at a golden opportunity having been spoiled because of inner party politics.

From my knowledge a large fraction of leaders in congress are working against the party in every election, for their self interest, causing its defeat. They vote against the party that's the bitter truth. It is better for high command to expel them from the party.

Congress base in D.K. is dwindling due to Group-ism, Created, Nourished and Controlled by Chieftains called J & M & O. Hence the entire Congress worker's loyalty is divided between these three Senior Congress Leaders, rather than High Command. We can see or hear that every Local, Regional or National Election, ticket seekers are to placate one of the Chieftains and their loyalty, then only they shall be given the Ticket to contest. Ironically almost all old timers are in one group and the youngsters in another Group.
Hence struggle between KPCC Secretary Ivan D'Souza and Ex com. J.R. Lobo, Jr.Moily and Ex Union Minister J.Poojary to seek ticket to contest turned literally a battle between the Chieftains. Now in my sole opinion the out come of L.S. Ticket fiasco and later the shocking result has resulted in this fresh controversy. Ultimately Mr.Ivan is loosing this battle. Previously J.P. has lost his battle, except Mr.J.R. Lobo, who has secured good support from the Mangalore City people, across the Party lines. Hence giving entire credit to faction filled Congress Workers effort is unfair. One thing is for sure, until unless the Faction spear heading Chieftains resign from active Politics, nothing better can happen in D.K.Indian National Congress. Jai Hind!

In this case there is no point in blaming Lobo. Because Lobo is controlled by prominent christian leader. This leader want "Houd Basava Houd, Alla Basa Alla" type of christian politician. Ivan is not this type of politician. So he denied the MLA ticket & MLC post also. In future also same thing will happen to Ivan!!!!!. Now ball is in Ivan's court.

Finally most of the congis accepted that JR LOBO is useless at least today. I have been telling this from last 1 year.

After he got elected, first month he spent in visiting his religious leaders, taking felicitations.

2nd month first week he visited Gurupur dam and said will solve drinking problem of Mangalore City. That remains statement as on today.

    3rd month foreign tour.

4th month onwards trips to and from Bangalore and Mangalore...

There was big competition between Lobo and Ivan for MLA ticket. Their supporters had fought literally once in KPCC office. When Ivan was denied MLA ticket, he was pacified by promising district congress president or an MLC ticket. Then he agreed to support Lobo and continued to work for Lobo.

Now Lobo back stabs him because LOBO is politician now..!

Among Lobo and Ivan, the person who has more contacts with people is Ivan.

First u snatched Ivan's MLA ticket, now u showed all ur mean mentality by preventing a christian to become MLC through his own capacity. All other communities will laugh at Christians now. I just dont understand the funda behind the rejection of MLC for Mr. Ivan Dsouza. He has all qualification to take up the position so why are you not giviing him a chance. He is a lawyer and can take good decisions when and as they are needed.Over that its so bad people from his party itself are opposing him while they them selves have not done any good to the state. He doesnt depend on others to take decisions. He knows when what has to be done.

Very true. Well said. Catholics are just behind congress and we teach our kids too the same old thing. We need to teach tehm that they should support the party which gives them space to grow and not the ones which pull you down while you are trying to climb up. Let our future generation learn to join politics in the right way. Its not about BJP or Congress its about the party which does good and works for the benefit of all citizens and doesn't rule religious based. Loved your comment which spoke the ultimate truth.

Nice to see beautiful, smart, well educated, brilliant actress Dr. Jayamala (Phd from Bengaluru University) being nominated for MLC.
We had an opportunity to see her and talk to her during the shooting of " Geri kanye" in Bale hunooru Coffee estate in Chikmagaluru, it was a dance sequence with Legend actor late Dr. Rajkumar- the song was "Thai Thai Bangari-so on". She looks the same after so many years. All the best Dr. Jayamala.

Regarding Mr. Ivan D'Souza, we feel really sorry for him, he has been back stabbed and neglected in the party, time for him to leave the party immediately and think about his future. He will never get any position. He is a nice person with helpful and simple nature. I don't know why congress has neglected his talent. We wish him all the very best.
Rest of the candidates nominated for MLC are useless, Mr. V.S. Ugrappa is the worst among them. We request congress to think twice and give Mr. Ivan D'Souza a chance to enter the legislative assembly.
    Hope common sense prevails.
    Cheers.
