Mangalore, Jul 15: The lashing rains of Thursday brought great damage to property. The 15 metre long wall built as a mini check dam to conserve rainwater was severely damaged.
Situated on the land belonging to St Antony Ashram in Nandigudde- Jeppubappal, the 4 ft high wall developed cracks and eventually fell down. The wall was built three years back at a cost of around Rs 50,000.
On Thursday night the wall collapsed and the water inundated the three houses belonging to Mohameed Hakeem. The compound wall of the houses also collapsed and has caused loss estimated at Rs 1.5 lac.
It is also said that the wall was built unscientifically and thus it gave way to the pouring rains.
