Beltangady, Jul 12: Within hours of fishing out the body of 10-year-old girl who had drowned at Netravati Bathing Ghat on Tuesday July 11, another school boy met watery grave at Anila near Kuvettu here.
Irfan (6), son of Mustafa of Anila had gone to school on Tuesday morning. He was studying in class 1. He then came for lunch in the afternoon and then again went back to the school. But he did not come back in the evening.
So his parents and family members started to search for him. At first they called up all their relatives and friends' to know about Irfan's whereabouts. When they could not trace him anywhere, they started searching him in the neighbourhood.
At this point they saw a pair of slippers which are said to be of Irfan floating in the nearby river. Though a concrete bridge has been built across this river, the local were using another small wooden walkway across the stream since it was bit near than the bridge.
Now it is suspected that Irfan who was using the same walkway to go to school might have slipped and fallen into the river. Though efforts were made to locate his body upto late in the night, he was not found.
A complaint has been filed in the Beltangady police station in this regard.
