Mangalore, Jul 9: It may, perhaps, come as a morale booster for the State police to note that naxalites operating in Karnataka, especially in the Malnad region, hold them in high esteem. This becomes if one goes through the content of a recent posting on their blog, www.naxalrevolution.blogspot.com.
The blog also says that the death of naxal ideologue Saketh Rajan was a blow to the naxalite movement in the State.
In a posting titled "Karnataka's hi-tech police," the blog, while describing the death of Saketh, killed in a police encounter nearly a year ago, as a mighty blow, warns the police against any complacency.
"The Karnataka police think they finished off the movement in the State. Little do they know about the revolutionary storm that is brewing in villages and towns," the blog states.
Observing that it will be tough for Maoists to get a strong foothold in Karnataka, the blog notes that this is because the State police, unlike their counterparts in Bihar or Jharkhand who are utterly demoralised, are better equipped and better motivated. However, this is only in relation to their capabilities, intelligence gathering and motivation.
In terms of corruption, brutality and savagery they are probably like the rest of the police in India, the blog states.
A clear sign of this efficiency and superior capabilities is the blog maintained by Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police B Dayananda (http://spdk.blogspot.com), says the naxal blog, adding that the blog was created in December last and has won a lot of praise.
