New York, May 28 (IANS): Singer Madonna reportedly failed to show up for a jury duty, and she didn't inform the court that she won't be able to attend the hearing.
The 55-year-old was due to perform her civic duty at Manhattan Supreme Court here Tuesday but failed to show up at the assigned time of 9 a.m., reports contactmusic.com
According to the New York Post newspaper, the singer also failed to inform the court that she wouldn't be able to honour the commitment.
New York jurors are allowed one postponement, but only if applied. But Madonna didn't apply to defer her jury duty.
The singer was previously called for jury service in Beverly Hills, California, 2008.
