Mangalore, Jul 6: On Jul 5, the Anti Rowdy Squad arrested two persons and seized about 680 gms of ganja worth about Rs 5000 them. The accused are Abdul Raheem alias Chappethanni (25) and Abdul Rehaman Muneer (20) both residents of Bengre.
The ARS which received a tip off on Wednesday at about 9.45 am caught the due red handed selling ganja in a clandestine manner near a public toilet at the service bus stand in the city. The team was led by Vinay A Gaonkar.
The duo who tried to slip away on seeing the police could not escape. Duirng interrogation, Abdul Raheem was found in possession of 530 grams of ganja in a polythene bag and 650 grams of empty polythene sachet of 6 cm X 6 cm size which were being used for packing ganja. Abdul Rehaman Muneer was found in possession of 48 small packets of Ganja in polythene bag hidden around his waist under the shirt weighing about 150 grams which he was selling at Rs 30 per packet.
As per the direction of the Superintendent of Police the accused along with seized articles have been handed over to South Police Station on the point of jurisdiction. Accordingly a case under the NDPS Act has been taken in South PS against the two accused.
During the course of investigation accused Abdul Raheem has revealed that he procures ganja from a person in Uppala of Kerala State and after packing them in small sachets in his house at Bengre, sells them through Abdul Rehaman Muneer and a few others in and around Mangalore city.
