Udupi, May 16: The BJP organized a meeting in the aftermath of the party’s stupendous victory on Friday May 16 at Chittaranjan Circle, here.

Victorious Shobha Karandlaje, addressing the gathering, said that it is a historical day in her life. “It is an end to the UPA’s corrupt administration. The public has given the right answer to the UPA government by electing the BJP with a good majority. It symbolizes patriotism, which is one of the reasons behind our win,” she said.

Karandlaje further said, “People elected this party to ensure implementation of the Gujarat model in Karnataka. I will abide by the party and not betray the faith reposed in me.” She cited the example of Nitish Kumar, Bihar chief minister, and his attitude before the election and said that the people had taught him a good lesson.

“BJP got a clear majority of votes which shows that people’s mentality indicates the need for a capable leader in the state. I will meet all demands and be the voice of the people while being obedient to the Modi government,” said Karandlaje.

Raghupathi Bhat, former MLA, Lalaji Mendon, Jeevraj, MLA Chikmagalur, Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, Sheela Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna, and all Mahila Morcha members were present.

Udupi, May 16: The BJP, which briefly lost control over Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency about two years back during the by-election necessitated by the resignation of the then MP, D V Sadananda Gowda, has wrested the seat back. Its candidate, Shobha Karandlaje, has defeated Congress candidate, Jayaprakash Hegde, by an impressive margin of nearly one lac votes.

Speaking to reporters, a beaming Shobha thanked people and party workers for her making her win and said, "This is not my victory but the victory of people and party workers who worked hard. I have been in this constituency for only a month, but seeing the work I did in just one month, the people have chosen me. I assure to bring a lot of development to my constituency."

Shobha, former state minister and leader of KJP which merged with the BJP just before the election, brought  a tremendous victory for the BJP. In the last election, it's candidate, Sunil Kumar, had lost to Jayaprakash Hegde. The fact that independent MLA, Halady Srinivas Shetty from Kundapur, who had remained neutral last time because of the humiliation he had faced from BJP leaders, had allowed his supporters to go with the BJP seems to have tilted scales in favour of the saffron party.

Jayaprakash Hegde, who arrived at the counting centre in the morning, left early after sensing that he was in for a thorough drubbing. Karandlaje, being a woman candidate hailing from Karnataka, it is thought, may get a berth in the union ministry.

Will such a person give justice to her voters by trying to include Tulu in 8th Schedule ?

The Election results are the warning Bell to the Non performing MLA's of Coastal Region. Congress MLA's - Wake up and go to the Villages who voted for you. Hear their problems, such as Drinking Water, Village Roads, Small Bridges, Electricity, Education to the poor, Health related problems of the poor etc. Try to solve them which are possible or bring to the notice of your Govt. Otherwise do some good money and sleep well. Do not contest in the next election. It is
left to you dear Congress MLA's of Costal Karnataka. All the Best

What do u mean by last 60 years? In that 60 years dint BJP get 5 years? Was it not u people who brought UPA2 back to power after the success of UPA1? Why dint you bring BJP and NDA to power at that time. Becos u knew there were all useless fellow in BJP. Now modi is the factor for this awesome win and now he has to deliver. He has an advantage over the previous government that there wont be arm twisting politics of smaller party since BJP has absolute majority which was decided by people since they had seen previously how the government failed to deliver due to Mamta DMK etc.. Now u cant say congress looted us for 10 years since after the 1st 5 years u had the chance to change the government by majority opted for UPA2...

Congratulations to BJP and Mr Narendra bai Modi for being the next PM of India. But my question here is whether is it right to elect MPs in ur constituency like Shobbaka Yeddi or Shriramalu, who dont have a clean image nor much reputation of doing something useful for the society, only to elect a able Prime Minister? We need able MPs who will stand for us when a new government is formed with a new PM. They have to represent us and see to it that they get maximum benefits from the policies and funds from the new government. Now when people like these start representing us will they be taken seriously in the parliament or will they take us voter seriously who elected them for us to benefit when the new government grants development fund or any visionary plans for the constituency. Its these MPs who will be our leaders to fight for us and not the Prime Minister. He will have lot of important work and foreign policies to take care and not check whats going on with us.

Nijavaagiyoo idhu Modi Ale.Illavaadhare JPHyanthaha Janavannu solisuvudu kasta saadhya.Because very much capable, efficient and honest man.But of course people's verdict.can't help it.we have to accept it.Though JPH was able from personal point of view, public wanted wanted change at the centre, that is proved with the clear mandate. Now not to go for hung or coalition government. Now it is BJP's turn to prove that even without congress India can be ruled. But one thing because of this landslide victory, don't be over confident and don't repeat the past mistakes. In Karnataka too people wanted the change and given the chance to BJP but mis-used it due to their hungry for power and wealth and internal squabbles. In the election people have given their clear mandate with too much of expectations from the new BJP government. That should be pro-people's govt and everybody should be taken into confidence.

Law and order of the land should be uniform regardless of their status, money and muscle power.Inflation should be controlled, guilty should be punished,women/girls should be protected, corruption should be eradicated slowly in all the govt departments, all the govt facilities should be reached to poor/common people without any hassle and problem, don't make any room for the opposition parties to raise their fingers and make noise out of it,take India towards decisive, progressive and constructive India.India should shine in all the fields.Wishing all the best for the new govt and long life.Don't forget the voters, who voted in your favour.Keep visiting frequently and show your face and interact and try to solve the problems of the people.Congratulations Shobakka.hope you will serve the people of your constituency better without any prejudice. We want good governance, stable govt, good leader whoever he may be,who can lead the country better.Hope Modi will lead better and will be the best.No corruption please.jai hind,Jai Bharat,Jai shobakka.wish u all the best.

Congress lost against 18 modi's in Karnataka.Voter saw modi in every BJP candidate and voted. Evenif a lamp-post would have stood in BJP, still would have won.

It's 'Modi'fied victory & not sobhakka's victory and congress defeat in udupi and not JPH's.

Yes I mean it.... Congress candidates lost against Modi sunami. It's not individual BJP candidates victory in Karnataka. Except for modi mukhavada they had nothing to offer to people of Karnataka.Even state BJP is surprised that they won 17 seats!!!.They even in their dreams are thanking modi for saving them and are now dreaming of either ministership or thinking how to pull each others leg.

JPH lost mainly due to "ADIKE NISHEDHA" gumma that BJP marketed very well in CHIK and faked Haladi's support to Sobhakka in UD and thus JPH lost UDCHIK.

We in fact do not talk about cates. But our stand is clear, no reservations based on caste but only based on economic conditions irrespective of castes. There should not be any Minority or Majority vote bank any more. No prayers for certain party's victory in temple church or Mosques. As I mentioned before, Mr. Modi deserves to be the PM of this country after overcoming ALL the challenges and leading the BJP and NDA to a never before victory!! All the best to Modi! Now it is time to walk the talk, which I am sure, he will lead the country on the path of development.

Congtats!!This is clearly Modi wave. Indians expect too much from Modi. Let's hope he doesn't break down and keep up what he said.
Modi had well planned campaign whereas congress lost big time in leadership and marketing.
Its better each party take turns in democracy since all are the same.

The two big headlines for me right now is BJP alone expected to pass 272 mark and the other one is congress is inthe position of losing the leader of opposition position.people have clearly said you just can't gain vote by doing corruption,by false promises and playing communal card.once again I congratulate the people of my motherland for giving a clear mandate for a stable govt.jai hind jai bharat

Not even 5 months after congress govts honeymoon in Karnataka. It's a Black Friday for them. This is called clean sweep. 50 thousand to 1.5 lakh leads for BJP were congress was supposed to win. This is called inclusive politics. This is the victory of democracy.
