Mangalore, May 14: In a theft which occurred in a house located at Poopadikallu in Kadandale within the limits of Paladka gram panchayat near here on the night of Monday May 12, a family lost gold ornaments worth about ten lac rupees.

In a complaint filed with the police station in the town here, head of the family, Pius Oswald Pinto, and his wife, Nisha Marita Pinto, said they had attended the Roca programme organized on Monday evening at the residence of a relative. They had returned at 11 pm that day.

When they woke up at 5 pm on Tuesday, they found that two almirahs had been opened and gold ornaments worth about ten lac rupees kept inswide them had been stolen. The thief had taken away only the gold ornaments, leaving behind cash and other valuables.

The policemen guess that the thieves would have opened a door located near the window to gain entry into the house by sliding its bolt by insterting some instrument through the window.

Finger print experts and sniffer dogs surveyed the scene of crime. A case was registered in the police station here. Investigation has been taken up.

Nowadays it's very risky to keep valuables in house. Hope the police will find culprits soon.
