Media Release
Dubai, May 13: Mangalore Konkans Dubai is all set to conduct the biannual Konkani singing event 'Konkani Gayan Spordho 2014' on Friday May 16, to promote singing talent among the Konkani speaking people in the UAE. The event will be held at Jordanian Social Club.
While the young ones from the age of 6 are eagerly waiting to exhibit their singing talent in front of over 500 spectators, those above 18 years are in full swing to compete in the preliminary round of GVOM IV Dubai Chapter and are geared up to compete to be shortlisted in the semi-finals of GVOM IV in Dubai, to be held in the first week of October 2014.
The special feature of the Konkani Gayan Spordho 2014 is that the organizers have added an interesting and sought-after category of solo singing for gents and ladies 50 years and above. Dubai, well-known for being a store of abundant talents, most of the stalwarts and veteran singers could join in with the younger crowd to mesmerize the audience. As the organizers have set no upper age limit to participate, the doors are open for those who still want to venture into singing and prove that age does not stop them from proving their passion and expertise.
President James Mendonca and the event coordinator Roshan D’Silva stated that there has been overwhelming response from children as well as adults to participate in the various categories viz solo, duet and group. In view of more than the expected entries for the competition, registration for participation has already been closed. Those who are disappointed to have missed a chance to participate in the event this time, are most welcome to come to the venue to listen, appreciate, cheer and applaud the singers and boost their morale. There is no entry fee to the event and the organizers are expecting an audience of over 500.
