Udupi: Pedestrian killed while crossing road at Muloor

Udupi, May 2: A pedestrian was killed after a car hit him while crossing the road in front of CSI School, Muloor on NH 66 here on Friday May 2.

The deceased, identified as Hasan alias Hassainar (60), was a resident of Kodi in Kundapur.


Said to be from a poor family, Hasan leaves behind his wife, a daughter and a son.

He was on the way to his younger sister's house at Muloor when the accident took place.

It is said that he was crossing the road in front of CSI School when a car moving towards Kaup knocked him down. He died on the spot.

The owner of the car has been identified as Vishwanath Shetty.

On hearing about the accident, KPCC secretary M A Ghafoor gathered a few locals and helped in shifting the body to the mortuary.

District incharge minister Vinaykumar Sorake and MA Pramod Madhwaraj visited the hospital to meet the family of the deceased and expressed their sypamthies.

Kaup police inspector Rajendra Nayak arrived at the spot and took the car as well as its driver into custody. Further investigations are on.

    Road transport authority of India and the highways-expressways...bi lanes at central and state should strictly implement by LAW, All international specs and standards very strictly.
    Provide underpasses ..Overhead bridges ..Zebra crossing.. etc.
    No more Z walking and putting their live s at risk..life is precious..
    Gov..road authorities..police ..traffic police, etc..should all design, build and set up rules..
    build clean ..straight quality roads with STOP SIGNS.....Zebra crossings...lights ..signage...deviders..kerbs..shoulders etc.let it be so called ROADS and not just PAADA DAARI?
    FOR BUFFALOES..BULLOCK CARTS,DONKEYS AND DOGS ?

    Poor man died on the road without speaking with Family .It makes so sad some People are instead of helping busy taking photos.disgusting to see it in sad moments.sometimes People also cross without looking or caring the vehicles.And vehicles are also rushing as though no Speed Limit.heartfelt sympathy to the Family.

    Hassan should have studied the situation better...
    When a person is drenched with thoughts of family judgement at cross roads often becomes a challenge...

    If we look at Kabeer's death and later developments, our State Govt have to compensate the Hasan's poor family....Also ask the car owner to pay for, irrespective of who went wrong....
