Mangalore, Jun 21: The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will be in city on June 23 to lay the foundation stone for the ONGC sponsored Special Economic Zone Project.

The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has thus requested the PM to inaugurate the second runway of Mangalore Airport on his arrival here on June 23.

KCCI, in a press release has stated that Mangalore Airport is the first custom declared Non-Metro International Airport of Karnataka and hence deserves to be inaugurated befittingly.

It has been in function for the past 50 years and the second runway was built to facilitate the operation of international flights.
