Mangalore, Apr 23: "Let the state government hand over the Kabeer encounter case to the CBI for impartial enquiry. The political parties and the government should not bring religion and politics into the case," said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel in a press statement.
"It is necessary to hand over the case to the CBI to investigate what actually transpired and to maintain the morale of the police force. ANF is constantly on the lookout for Naxals and it is necessary that the state government maintain their morale. If not it will be detrimental to our security," he stated.
"It would not be right for political parties to add religious and political colours to this case for their selfish ends. The state government should take suitable and timely and hand over the case to the CBI," he stressed.
"The state government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lac to the family of Kabeer. Similarly two young students died of drowning during Puttur Mahalingeshwara temple procession. It was an accident and their families also should be compensated. It is not correct on the part of the government to look at accidents on the basis of religion. The families of those two students should also be compensated," he said.
