Kundapur, Apr 23: Relating to incidents of stones being pelted at the houses belonging to members of different communities in Kody near here since the last some days, the policemen have arrested six persons. These arrests relate to three such cases.

After the police patrolling was beefed up in Kody, and also nearby villages like Haluvalli, Hangalur, Beejady, Kody, and Koteshwar, the incidents have died down. To be able to exercise better control over the situation, a check post has been set up at Kody Cross, where all the vehicles are being inspected, said local deputy superintendent of police (DySP), C B Patil.

On Tuesday April 22, a peace meet was held in Kody with the coming together of members of two different communities that are at loggerheads. DySP, C B Patil, circle inspector, PM Diwakar, and others were present. The police officers have camped in Kody, where two contingents of district armed reserve police and police personnel drawn from different police stations have been deployed.

Security has also been tightened at Gangolli, Mavinakatte and Kandlur villages, which have traditionally been identified as sensitive pockets.
