Persons booked for circulating fake currency in Goa


Panaji, April 18 (TNN): The economic offence cell (EOC) of Goa police have booked unidentified persons for circulating over Rs 1.25 lakh fake currency in Goa.

This follows two different complaints lodged by ICICI Bank before the EOC. ICCI bank currency chest, Panaji, in their first complaint said that in December 2013 unknown customers of the various branches of the ICICI Bank at Goa deposited 62 counterfeit Indian currency notes at the bank counters totaling Rs 41,200. The same counterfeit was later detected as forged by the officials of various branches of the bank.

In the second complaint, ICICI bank officials stated that between September 2013 to December 2013, unknown customers of the various branches of the ICICI Bank at Goa deposited 131 counterfeit notes totaling Rs 83,350. It was later detected as forged.
