Mangalore, Apr 15: “Replying to the Election Commission’s (EC) notice on violation of election code of conduct, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has stated that Ananth Kumar is not guilty of any violations. Ananth Kumar never said that if the BJP comes to the power, it will slash prices. The NITK director also replied to the notice but the answer did not satisfy the EC. One more notice has been issued. The flying squad has registered a case in Suratkal police station against Ananth Kumar, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Yogish Bhat, and Rajani Duganna,” said Sadashiva Prabhu, assistant deputy commissioner (ADC).
He was addressing the press meet held at the DC office on Monday April 14.
Prabhu said, “The district EC has also issued a notice to Kalladka Dr Prabhakar Bhat for violation of election code of conduct by printing Ugadi wishes seeking votes. Kalladka has denied the allegation. Hence, the DC brought this issue to the notice of the SP and a case has been filed at Bantwal station”.
“A total 137 cases have been registered so far of which 19 are police cases, 105 are violations of code of conduct and 32 are excise department cases,” he added.
The DC also issued an order to the labour department allowing all organized and unorganized workers to cast their votes.
