Mangalore, Apr 10: Nikhilesh Kamath (33) from Mumbai had dreamed of marrying a girl from the city, after coming in contact with her through the social networking site, Facebook. As the bond of friendship became stronger, Kamath conveyed to her a feeling of deep love he was nursing for her.
The 22-year-old lady, a medical college student here, came to know thereafter that Kamath had not even completed SSLC. Finding that their educational qualifications were not sufficient, she concluded that the alliance would be untenable. Therefore, she refused to respond to his overtures. Frustrated and angered by the rejection, Kamath wanted to take revenge.
When Kamath had visited the city last month to make an effort to woo the lady, the police had warned him against coming close to her again. But on Wednesday April 9, Kamath arrived in the city from Mumbai and directly went to the girl’s home. Declaring that he cannot live without her and that he would not allow her to live too, he stabbed her, before turning the knife upon himself. While the lady was injured in the hands and chest, Kamath suffered injuries to his chest.
While Kamath is being treated in Wenlock Hospital here, the lady is being cared for in a private hospital. The Kadri police have registered a case of attempt to murder against Kamath.
