Los Angeles, April 7 (IANS): Hollywood actor Mickey Rooney, who started acting when he was all of 18 months old, has died at age 93.
Rooney was born in Brooklyn and began his career in his parents' vaudeville act, Yule and Carter. He breathed his last Sunday, reports mirror.co.uk
He was best known for playing the character Andy Hardy in more than 20 films in the 1930s and 1940s. By 1965, Rooney's 200 films had earned more than £1.8 billion around the world.
Actor-director Laurence Olivier referred Rooney as the greatest film actor of the US. Rooney starred alongside legendary actresses Judy Garland and Elizabeth Taylor.
He had nine children with his eight wives, the last of whom, actress Jan Chamberlin Rooney, he married in 1978. Actress Ava Gardner was also one of his wives.
Asked once if he would marry all his wives again, he replied: "Absolutely. I loved every one of them."
