Mangalore, Apr 2: “We condemn Dr Subramanian Swamy’s statement on MNERGA (Mahathma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act-2005) which said that if BJP comes into power that they will discontinue this programme,” said U T Khadar, the state minister for health and family welfare.
Addressing the press here on Wednesday April 2, he also said that it is an effective scheme by the UPA government for the poor people; it is this act which benefits the common people, poor classes and women.
“This programme also helps the rural people for their bank transactions and so we severely condemn this statement of Dr Subramanian Swamy,” he said.
“Since we do not have efficient leaders in our Lok Sabha, our district requires good and effective administrators and so people should elect an eligible candidate like Janardhan Poojary,” he added.
He also said that the people of Dakshina Kannada district are intellectuals and so this time we have to elect an able leader and not let ourselves be fooled.
He continued to say that every person praises Poojary for his work of providing education loans and loans to the poor people. It is now time to introspect who is a capable leader.
He was questioned about his views on the Ullal Congress incident where he said, “There will be minor dissatisfactions within the party. But now all is well.”
During the chaos in block Congress party office, few had brought machetes and he said “bringing machetes is to discipline,” but when asked about it he denied saying “no one carried the machete, it is only news.”
When asked about Krishniah Shetty, U T Khadar said “KPCC has rejected him,” but when asked about whether he would support Poojary’s stand on Yethinahole, he remained silent.
