Ekta brings back 'K' factor with 'Kumkum Bhagya'

Mumbai, March 31 (IANS): Ekta Kapoor's new TV show "Kumkum Bhagya" marks the comeback of Ekta's lucky letter 'K', but she says it hasn't been done deliberately.

"'K' has come back into my life unknowingly. I am hoping that the success that came with 'K' before, comes back with this show," the 38-year-old said here at the launch of the show.

"I was waiting for a good story to put the letter back in but when we named 'Kumkum Bhagya', we didn't realize that it starts with 'K'. But when it happened, we later suddenly realized that 'K' is back," she added.

The title of most of Ekta's previous hit TV shows started with 'K' such as "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi", "Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii", "Kaahin Kissii Roz", "Kasautii Zindagii Kay" and "Kasamh Se".

Her current hit TV shows like "Bade Acche Lagte Hain" and "Jodha Akbar" are a part of few of her shows which broke the rule.

Talking about "Kumkum Bhagya," Ekta says it does not conform to typical rules of television and she is out of her comfort zone with it.

"I am not even able to tell you if it's a family drama or a love story. I am actually out of my comfort zone with this show. I thought we have so many family dramas on TV and yet there are so many stories that are not being told, simply because they do not conform to the typical rules of television," Ekta said.

"We have made the show with a lot of heart and we are hoping the heart reaches out to various other hearts of various audiences," she added.

"Kumkum Bhagya" goes on air April 15 on Zee TV.
