Mangalore, Mar 27: An interaction programme to create awareness on 'ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) - Arbitration, Conciliation and Mediation' will be held on Saturday March 29 at the court complex here.
The programme has been organized by the International Center Dispute Resolution (ICADR) in association with district Bar Association.
Addressing a press meet here at the court complex, president of Bar Association Ashok Ariga said, "ICADR was set up in the year 1995 in Delhi and later regional centers were established. It was set up to minimize the burden on the judiciary."
"Arbitration, conciliation and mediation in totality comes under ADR and this works under the ambit of union ministry of law and justice," he said.
On Saturday, Justice N Kumar, judge of Karnataka high court and executive chairman of ICADR will deliver the keynote address and any doubts in this regard could be clarified with him during the session.
Answering questions of the press persons he said, before the body was set up there were 2.3 crore pending cases and now it has come down to 1.5 crore. Disputes can be disposed off soon with this alternative measure, he said.
The body is not known to many and consolidated promotion is required to impart awareness among the people on ADR, he added.
