Kasargod, Mar 27: Rajapura police have arrested four persons for allegedly covering a shopkeeper's head with a sack and then assaulting and attempting to him at Panathurpete here.
The arrested are Nellikunje resident K M Nawaz (32), N S Iqbal (19) and Mohammed Javid(18). A 17-year-old boy has also been arrested. The injured shopkeeper is identified as Jain Jacob(42), owner of JJ Store at Panathurpete.
The police were able to get important information of the accused as their car met with an accident at Kuthikole while fleeing after the incident.
The incident occurred on Tuesday. The group waylaid Jain Jacob while he was going home after closing his shop. They caught hold of the victim and put a sack over his head and tried to rob his bag containing cash.
Jacob, who managed to escape from their grasp, informed of the incident to the residents of a nearby house.
Meanwhile it was found that a car had hit a street pole near Kuthikole. The locals who grew suspicious, informed the police. When the police came, they could get information on the accused and arrest them.
