Kasargod: NRI forcibly photographed with woman, blackmailed - Three arrested

Kasargod, Mar 26: The police of Vidyanagar station here have found out that a group of people had tried to force a non-resident Indian (NRI) from the district, who is employed in the Gulf region, to part with money, by blackmailing him after forcibly photographing him in the nude in the company of a young woman. Three persons have been arrested in this connection.

The arrested are K N Riyaz (34), a resident of Kapihitlu, Kasarogod, N A Shameer (31), a resident of Muttathodi, and Misbah (25) of Vidyanagar.

The police have registered case against 15 persons relating to this case, which was filed by a youth from Panala in Chengala. It is said that the incident had occurred in a hotel in the town a few days back.

The NRI in question and his friend had reportedly rented a room in a hotel here. A gang of ten, who approached the duo along with a girl, whom they introduced as a small screen actress, demanded payment of Rs 10 lac from the NRI. When he expressed helplessness, saying that he did not have the money, the gang forcibly removed his clothes, and clicked his photographs after making him stand alongside the girl.

The gang is then said to have posed a threat of making this photo public in case of failure to pay the money as demanded. The members of the gang thereafter urged for immediate payment of three lac rupees, duly offering to accept balance payment within a week thereafter. The youth reportedly told the gang that he did not have money, and promised to make payment after borrowing the same from a friend. The NRI said he could get out of the ugly situation he was put into by the gang members, on the basis of this promise.

The man then approached a friend, and at his advice, complained to the police. As advised by the police, the youth asked the gang members to come to Vidyanagar B C Road to collect money. Some police in plainclothes were present at the place beforehand. Three persons, who came there to collect the money, were arrested by the police. The police have registered a case of demanding ransom, attempt to robbery, and other crimes. The NRI has told the police that his motor bike and cell phone had been snatched away by the gang.

This is a very unfortunate incident and the culprit should get the maximum punishment.
This is a generation of Kasaragod youth who were born in the 1980s, when there was no good schools. There was the highest rate of Muslim outs and 100% failure in the tenth standard. But the situation has changed drastically.
Now there are many good private schools and the Muslim parents are keenly interested in putting their children in good schools. The children, though naughty still have inclination to study and persuade higher education. Lots of Muslim children are graduating in computer science, engineering, medicines and so on.
We will not find the Muslim youth of 1990 onwards in such anti-social or criminal activities. Bring in inclusive growth and these anti-social activities will automatically reduce.
    Jai hind!

This is really heart throbbing story.Sitting at home, dreaming about the cozy life without shedding their sweat is their way of life.Without experiencing personally, one cannot understand the plight of others.I fully agree with Jennet Prescilla, Mangalore Muscat. How the people in GCC countries toiling to save Dhs.1 or Riyal 1 to support their families back home.Even I know the ordeals people are undergoing there because I was the long resident in Dubai especially life of the employees who work in construction fields, cleaning sectors.May be only finger count people are leading some what respectful life and others are in fact struggling to meet their both ends together.Besides some people might have paid hefty amount to the agents after mortgaging their jewelry, properties just to get one visa but once they land in the GCC countries, they will come to know the reality of the life in GCC countries. But people back in their respective native places think that once they land in GCC countries,it is a place to pluck money from the trees, which was planted by our forefathers.People who commit this inhumane crime should be hanged and they got no right to live in this world.Targeting innocent and ground reality nobody knows.

The best punishment to those culprits is to parade them naked along with a lady who supported the crime, in front of the general public. As the saying goes, let there be tooth for a tooth and eye for an eye. But in our country, it may never happen.

Wonder why all these Kasargod NRI's only get the chance to pose naked with girls , actresses and all in the guise of
blackmailing! Something to do with the atmosphere, I believe! Why be afraid of such blackmails?
If girls are willing to pose 'naked' why should 'Demons' I mean boys hesitate? Right?
'Enjoy the Pose if it is Inevitable' What say Langoola?

Behind every successful man, there is a woman, ready for marrying. But, here is a woman ready to be photographed with NRI after making him naked for blackmailing. These culprits should be given stringent punishment commensurate with their act.

At least here the friend gave a sane advice to go to the Police. I can only imagine his plight and trauma. Why book only three people. Give them the right police treatment to get the other members of the gang, including the lady who too should not be spared for aiding and abetting in this crime. such people are a nuisance to the society and a bad influence on the young minds and are fit to be put behind bars and allowed to rot there. What they think NRIs are minting money? Let them visit the gulf countries and see the struggle, hardships the NRIs undergo to save little to sustain their families back in India. I know of construction companies, cleaning companies paying salaries ranging between 40 rials to 50 rials with food. The cash is equivalent to about RS.7500/- and the food is rice and liquid daal with little vegetable and little pickle and papad thrown in. How can you live on that day in and day out. To come to GCC countries they would have paid a hefty amount to the Agents who would have cheated them with rainbow dreams, whereas the reality is entirely different. I hope the culprits are punished severely

This is a new trend of extorting money from innocents by threats.
Already such an incident had taken place in Nitte, Derlakatte.
The police / Judiciary should act appropriately to punish them.
Only the stringent action would send a strong signal to the future breed of such criminals in the society.
