Bangalore, Mar 26: Pramod Muthalik, head of Sri Ram Sene, who had been welcomed into BJP before being unceremoniously kicked out within hours, is angry and sulking. Besides announcing at a press conference at Hubli on Tuesday March 25 that he would be contesting as an independent candidate from Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency, Muthalik claimed that BJP general secretary, Ananth Kumar, had been involved with a corruption scam worth Rs 14,000 crore.
“I have enough evidence to prove the above allegation. I will be making these documents public at the right time. Even after I was insulted by BJP leaders, I remained patient, in the interests of the country. I had given a deadline to BJP leaders for taking a final decision on my admission. As I have not heard from the party on the issue, I have decided to fight the election as an independent,” he announced.
Muthalik revealed that he also is considering a proposal to fight the ensuing election against Ananth Kumar, who he said is an outright corrupt politician. “What is the contribution of Kumar, who has been getting continuously elected since the last 35 years, to the people of Bangalore (south) constituency?” he questioned. In a tirade launched against Kumar, Muthalik accused the former of splitting BJP in the state into two, and opined that Ananth does not have the standing to pledge allegiance to RSS or its leaders. “RSS sent BJP leaders for serving the people. These people are fully engrossed in corrupt activities,” he fumed.
Asserting that there is no question of his joining the BJP because of malicious propaganda indulged in by the BJP leaders against him after he was welcomed into the party, he swore never to join BJP in future. He said he would be fighting from Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency with the sole aim of conserving Hindutva.
“It would be sufficient if Hindus vote for me. I am not in need of Muslim votes,” he announced. He said he had condemned the act of workers from his organization when they had attacked a pub and assaulted women. "Even now I apologize for this mistake," he stressed.
