Mangalore Mar 25: “Congress prior to the elections had assured people, in its manifesto that if the party comes to a power they will not increase the self assessment tax and provide free single site approvals but after coming to power within ten months they increased the self assessment tax on February 22. Congress leaders claim that it was increased by the MCC officials but the fact was that it was with consent the district in-charge minister and two MLAs, J R Lobo and Mohiuddin Bava have signed the approval” said former minister J Krishna Palemar.
He was addressing the media at the district BJP Lok Sabha election campaign office here on Tuesday March 25.
"Congress won the elections by spreading rumors. Janardhana Poojary also assured that within 15 days of coming to the power, they would approve for single site freely. This is yet to be done even after the completion of 10 months. During BJP’s tenure, 15% property tax was charged for one acre land but Congress withdrew the policy and now people pay 15% tax for 25 cents of land. They break promises," he stated.
Palemar continued to allege “the Mangalore North MLA is involved in a tar scam by illegally providing contracts to his relatives." He also said that he will bring out the truth on these matters in the future.
“There are four minsters in the undivided district who are not accessible in MCC. When I was the minster I was available three days a week from 8 am at the corporation”.
On this occasion former MLA Yogish Bhat, Premananda Shetty, Umanatha Kotian were present.
