Bantwal, Mar 25: C H Lakshminarayana Bhat (59), who was working as chief auditor in New Mangalore Port Trust, Mangalore, lost his life in a road accident on Monday March 24. The accident occurred near his residence at his native place, Padekallu in Karopady village near Vittal.
The Maruti 800 car in which Bhat was moving towards Mangalore from his home tumbled into 20-feet deep gorge after slipping from the muddy road near his home. A local, who was passing by at that time, alerted the family about the accident. People rushed to his rescue, but found that Bhat had breathed his last. He had sustained grievous injuries to his head and body.
Bhat used to stay with his wife in Mangalore, and had the habit of visiting his native place during weekends. He had visited Padekallu on Saturday March 22, and was returning to Mangalore on Monday morning, when tragedy struck.
Police circle inspector, Rajashekhar Mistry, Vittal station house officer, Raghavendra T R, and other officials visited the spot and initiated necessary steps. A report was filed in Vittal station relating to this accident.
