Mangalore, Mar 25: It is learnt that a police team, which had been dispatched to Maharashtra to look out for the two alleged associates of underworld fugitive, Ravi Poojary, who were involved with the recent Bijai shoot-out case, has succeeded in its mission. With help from the police personnel attached to Kharad station there, the team succeeded in taking into custody these two accused.
City police commissioner, R Hitendra, had formed different teams for the purpose of investigating this incident and arresting the culprits. They had been fanned out to different parts. The police team that has arrested the two goons also has taken into custody a motor cycle, a pistol, and three rounds of ammunition from them. The names of the arrested people have been given as Ganesh (26), son of Lakshman Saketh, Satara, Maharashtra, and Mukhesh (26), son of Shivaji Kamble, resident of Sarvodaya Colony in Satara, Maharashtra.

In addition, Anand Kumar alias Anto, son of the late Swamy Gounder, residing at 94/14, Lohit Building, Hongasandra, Begur Road, Bangalore, has also been arrested. Anand reportedly worked for underworld dons, Ravi Poojary and Kali Yogeesh, by providing them details of the builders in Mangalore, and helped them sketch robbery and extortion plans. This man is an accused in the case of murder of promoters of Shabnam Developers in Bangalore, it is learnt.
These arrests were made by a team led by assistant commissioner of police attached to city central subdivision, K Tilakchandra, inspector of city crime branch, Valentine D’Souza, Urwa police station inspector, R B Maledevar, police sub-inspector, Ravishankar, Barke sub-inspector of police, Shariff, and others. They coordinated their work under the direction of city police commissioner, R Hitendra, and guidance of deputy commissioner of police, Vishnuvardhan.
