Udupi, Mar 24: Rinkie (22), a woman of north Indian origin, committed suicide at her home near Kaup. A report in this respect stands filed in Kaup police station.

Rinky, who had married about a year back, had settled in a rented home in Kombugudde, Kaup, since the last three months. This house is owned by a local, Jayakrishna. On the night of Saturday March 22, she used the veil of her churidar to hang herself from the ceiling fan.

Rinky, wife of Santosh Singh from Uttarakhand, was reportedly suffering from severe abdominal pain. Santosh Singh is employed as a cook in a hotel in Kaup. Singh said his wife had undergone treatment for this problem both at his home state, Uttarakhand, as well as a private hospital in Kaup. He suspected that his wife, who was frustrated at the nagging pain and ineffectiveness of medication, would have developed frustration with her life, and hence resorted to this extreme step.

Singh said he had reached home from hotel at around 12 am on Saturday night and slept as usual. He said he woke up on Sunday morning and then found that his wife had committed suicide.
