Mangalore: Break from news - Journos have fun in the sun at sports meet

Mangalore, Mar 24: Journalists and photojournalists in the city took some time off their busy schedules here on Sunday March 23 to test their sporting skills and have fun.
The occasion was the annual sports meet organized by Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists' Union together with Mangalore Press Club at St Aloysius Pre-University grounds here.
Inaugurating the event, bodybuilder and former Mr World Raymond D'Souza said, "To imbibe discipline, live stress-free life and maintain health and fitness, journalists have to involve themselves in sports during their leisure time."
Chief guest, physical director of Gokarnanatheshwara College Purushottam Poojary addressing the gathering said, "Developing sportiveness even in everyday life helps one to live a peaceful life."
Senior journalist Manohar Prasad wished good luck for the sports meet.
In the meet achievers of Master Sports meet Mari Hilda D’Souza, Naveen Kumar Jogi Kulur, national-level sportsperson Uma Bhagyalakshmi, representative from India to Special Olympics and trainer Narayana S were felicitated.
Events such as cricket, slow bike race, running race, ball passing, needle and thread, ice cream eating, banana eating and musical chairs were held.
During the occasion Press Club president Ramakrishna R, Journalists' Union president P B Harish, secretary, and Srinivas Indaje were present.
