Beltangady: CBI team arrives to probe Sowjanya case

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady

Beltangady, Mar 23: Nearly one-and-a-half years after she was found raped and murdered near Dharmasthala in October 2012, the CBI team on Sunday March 23 arrived here to investigate Sowjanya's death.

The three-member team from Chennai visited Sowjanya's parents and also the crime spot at Pangala near Dharmasthala.

The team will begin a thorough investigation from Monday March 24, sources said.

The government handed over the case to the CBI in November 2013, after a series of protests led by Mahesh Thimarodi of Prajaprabhutva Vedike and Sri Esha Vittaldasa Swamiji of Kemar Math and requests from leaders including MLAs Vasanth Bangera and Shakuntala Shett, and even Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade who wrote a letter to the government urging CBI probe.

The government had first handed over the case to CID, which submitted its 15-page report a year after the murder, apparently due to media and public pressure. In its report, the CID named Santosh Rao, who was arrested soon after the incident, as the accused and gave clean chit to Nischal Jain, nephew of Dr Veerendra Heggade, and to Mallik Jain, Uday Kella and Dheeraj Jain, all of whom had been named by the victim's parents and other local leaders like Mahesh Thimarodi.

Even after the state government announced CBI inquiry into the case, the protests continued as the probe did not begin as expected. The protestors including Sowjanya parents had also demanded CBI inquiry into the other 462 unnatural deaths that had been reported in Dharmasthala over the last ten years.

The Photo of Suspected Murderer's elder Brother's marriage reception is published, wherein even Janardhana Poojary is seen gracing the occasion. If all the powerful Politicians are so friendly with Murderer's family, then how can CBI do the impartial investigation ?

I remember some years back a CBI director gave graphic details of how Arushi Talwar was raped and killed by Mr Krishna who was Talwars assistant along with two others in a press conference. later on CBI backtracked changed the team and said that there is no clinching evidence to nail Mr Krishna. So to believe that CBI will unearth the truth is far fetched in Sowjanyas case. The case depends on the police teams ability in collecting all evidence and securing the place in the immediate aftermath. There is danger that all evidence is destroyed if the guilty are powerful people who can influence the police team probing the incident.

All evidences have been destroyed by the Culprits under the able guidance of Police dept itself. So, the CBI concentrating their investigation in Ujire is a futile exercise .
So, if CBI really wants to catch the main culprit who is in USA, then they have to contact the US immigration dept and collect evidence to prove that the main culprit was in India during the time of Murder. In India all evidence can be destroyed by Politicians supporting culprits, but they cannot destroy documentary evidence kept safely with US immigration dept and Airports in USA.

This is election time, That's the reason why the investigation began now, 4 months after handing over the case. At least people think our govt. did it and people get fooled off it and they will vote in favour of them.

The case was handed over to CBI in November, 2013. The investigation started now, after 4 months. CBI team is from Chennai. Sitting for enquiry in Mangalore. Their language is tamil or Engilish and the local people speak Tulu/Kannada. Someone rightly said, they are the guest of honor of the accused. They may have the report already ready with them. This is only time pass to fool people. Hats off Mr. Mahesh Shetty, Swamiji & people who stood by our Sowjanya's parents. I never expect justice from this investigation. May our Sowjanya's soul rest in peace.

If the investigators themselves becomes the guests of honour of the suspects......??. CBI has given clean chit to many political culprits earlier...
Kapil sibbal(not sabbal)was asking the media yesterday, how do you accuse the UPA when there is no court summons against even a single corruption case accused by the media and opposition parties....!and Karan Thapar was speechless....! He had to concede defeat....! But I tell you, Arvind Kejriwal would have given Sibbal with the proof on his face...! That is the reason all the political parties joined together to defeat this man(Kejriwal)and wipe him out of the Indian political system...

Hope the CBI will investigate Honestly and detect the exact culprits and prove the innocence of mentally ill Santhosh Rao. Aslo investigation of the unnatural death of the Maid Servant in the Guest house of suspected Murderers and their friend Ravi Poojary is also included in the investigation.
If CBI fails to bring out the truth, then Naxalites may take over.

It is good that Mahesh Timmarodi did not join any political party. Had he joined AAP or any other Political party, then the same people would have accused that he did not fight honestly for any Cause, but he had a hidden agenda of making capital out of Saujanya's death for building his own political career.

Yes, Mahesh timmarodi - you should continue to remain neutral at least till the end of CBI investigation.

I think all the culprits reached safely in their destination, so CBI arrived now. Is it face saving action or to pin down someone? They will spend at least 2 to 3 years for so called investigation and then submit the closure report saying no solid proof available to reach up to the real culprit!!! May be we have to pray with GOD to give his verdict and give appropriate punishment for the real culprit

It's too late. All the proofs might have vanished by now.
Next they have to call FBI,KGB and Mossads also.
Finally, justice will be given by GOD only.

This CBI team is from Chennai, and non of them know local language Kannada. Then how can they investigate the case and interrogate villagers of Belthangadi-Ujire ? This is another drama company sent to white wash the case.
Instead of investigating the case fully in Ujire, they are calling the Witnesses to far off Mangalore, why ? Is it because there is no Star Hotel in Belthangadi for CBI to Stay !

In Arushi Murder Case of Delhi the same CBI had put Closure Report is stating that - No proof is available to pinpoint murderers.
But only when the Court took CBI to task for putting a Closure report on such a simple case, the CBI re-opened the Case and arrested Arushi's parents. This proves that CBI is like our Karnataka Police & CID and they dance to the tune of powerful Politicians. So can we expect justice from such CBI ?
