Karkala, Mar 22: Following the death of a woman after giving birth to a child in the government hospital here, her relatives lodged a police complaint in the town police station on Friday March 21, alleging medical negligence on the part of doctors and nurses of the hospital. The lady had died of excessive bleeding.
Susheela from SaiKripa in Nallur Nellikar village in Beltangady taluk had been admitted into the government hospital here for delivery on March 20. On that day, she had given birth to a baby boy at around 8.30 am.
After the lady experienced excessive bleeding late afternoon that day, the doctors reportedly told her relatives to take her to Wenlock Hospital in Mangalore. Susheela however breathed her last before reaching Mangalore. Post mortem of the body was conducted at KMC Hospital, Manipal.
Suresh, brother of the deceased woman, in his complaint, accused the doctors and nurses of the hospital of causing the death of his sister because of their medical negligence and irresponsible behavior. He said that his sister had undergone normal delivery without any complications, and named obstetrician of the hospital, Vikram Hebbar, and nurses, Latha and Jayalaxmi, in his complaint.
