Benegal happy with exhibition on Mumbai's bond with cinema


Mumbai, March 21 (IANS): Veteran filmmaker Shyam Benegal attended the Cinema and the City - Lecture Series, Film Screenings and Guided Walks exhibition here and is happy as it tells the story of Mumbai's connect with films.

"This is a very good initiative. It's been 121 years since the invention of cinema and 118 years since cinema has been in India. This is the first time we have an exhibition telling us the story of the city's connection with cinema and I think it's a wonderful thing," the 79-year-old said here Thursday.

Cinema and the City - Lecture Series, Film Screenings and Guided Walks will run till Sunday at the Mumbai Research Centre of the Asiatic Society.
