Forcible eviction in Shirthady: Locals demand tahsildar's transfer

Daijiworld Media Network - Moodbidri (EP)

Mangalore, Mar 20: A day after Malathi Poojarthi of Moodukonaje, Shirthady near Moodbidri was forcibly evicted and her house razed down by the police and revenue officials, the locals along with BJP leaders gathered in front of the tahsildar's office on Wednesday March 19 and demanded his transfer.

Sharada Poojarthi of Moodukonaje complained to assistant election commissioner Dr Ashok urging him to take action against the tahsildar who evicted Malathi Poojarthi who had constructed her house on government land, obtained a door number and had even paid tax. Dr Ashok accepted the complaint and said that he would bring it to attention of the local election officials.

BJP block president K P Sucharitha said that there are many illegal multi-storied buildings in Moodbidri town and urged the authorties to take action against them.

BJP district vice-president Umanath Kotian said that the tahsildar had shown high-handedness by demolishing the house of the poor. "Let him take action against the several illegal buildings against which complaints are pending," he said.

Zilla panchayat member Ishwar Kateel said that thousands of applications for house sites are decaying and at the same time houses of the poor are being demolished.

"Moodbidri tahsildar is acting like a Congress puppet and an impartial election is not possible by him. He should be transferred till elections get over. If not, we will not participate in any meetings in which he is present and we will not cooperate with him," warned the BJP leaders.

Zilla panchayat member Sunitha Sucharitha Shetty spoke. BJP district vice-president Kasturi Panja and leaders Bhuvanabhiram Udupa, Sudarshana, M Bhaskar Acharya, Sukesh Shetty and others were present.

The allegations levelled by the protesters were:

"The member of municipal council, Anil Lobo has constructed a building of five storeys with  permission for only two storeys. How did he get door numbers?

"Former taluk panchayat president Savitha T N has occupied government land and built a house on it. Why no action against her despite complaints?

"Kallamandkur gram panchayat president Joachim Correa has constructed an illegal quarry. Why is the government silent?

"Why no action against people who have occupied forty acres of government land in Yekkar village?"

People living in glass houses, should not throw stone at others house.
Mr. Sucharita (ex-JDS) forgot to list out illegal business & building in & around Moodbidri belongs to BJP & JDS leaders. It's Congress turn to list it out.

If Tahsildar has taken a wrong decision of emptying Govt land occupied by this poor family, instead of challenging it in the legal way, why BJP leaders are blaming Congress leaders??? Anyone can understand the motive behind it.
Yet another example for 'brain wash tactics' of BJP!

who is right? who is wrong? it's not a time to discuss now. As a Tahshildaar, he should have been known well before the steps taken drastically. In my view, he & useless Minister is solely responsible for occurring of any possible riot during election time in a peaceful city like Moodbidri & election commissioner/D.C. must be seriously considered the issue & give favourable justice to the poor family immediately.

Looks like this is master planned by these guys. Everything is planned, starting from sending a large team of police, demolition of the house and now drama to forcing transfer. (Anyone knows, Bajpe SI transfer?)
If they wanted, they could have reached the site before demolition. if that happens, they/party will not get 'MILAGE'

DC Saheb, the mere transfer of Tahsildar will not serve the purpose.Suspend him until comprehensive investigation is completed. The official gangs, including the police department need to be taken into task.Should that helpless lady financially strong and educated, would officials, gang up against her or otherwise she will definitely file a case of robbery and atrocity against women. Now,Taluk revenue officers should be suspended and an comprehensive investigation should be made.Transferring responsible office is a mere eyewash and we need who is chief officer of the operation punished less than that it is deemed as ROBBERY,RAPE ATTEMPT,ATROCITY AGAINST WOMEN ETC ETC by STATE.....

Probably that Corrupt Tashidar did not get any bribe from those Poor ladies. Hence he evicted them in a most inhuman manner. So, transferring him will not teach him any lesson. He should be immediately suspended. Anyway, where is the Human Rights Commission ? Why HRC always concentrates only on the cases of big City which bring them lots of publicity ?
