Bangalore: After Jaffer, JD(S) gets ready to catch Sangliana

Bangalore, Mar 19: In its effort to back youths in the forthcoming elections, the Congress party seems to be losing some of its prominent leaders.

After Jaffer Sharief expressed his disappointment and signalled a breakup with the party, it is now the turn of H T Sangliana.

Sangliana was denied ticket from both Karwar and Bangalore Central constituencies. As soon as the party came up with the decision to not issue the ticket to him, a miffed Sangliana expressed his unhappiness and hinted at quitting the party.

In both constituencies, the Congress party has decided to field young candidates, issuing tickets to Rizwan Arshad from Bangalore Central and Prashant Deshpande, son of R V Deshpande from Karwar.

In a bid to capitalize on the 'wrong' done by the Congress party to Sangliana, the JD(S) yet again threw its net on the disappointed leader to boost its own chances in the elections.

It is said that Sangliana will come up with his decision after holding talks with his close confidants.

Sangliana, who served as an IPS officer, later joined BJP and won the Lok Sabha elections from Bangalore North constituency. But later he was thrown out of BJP for voting in favour of UPA in the confidence motion of 2008, thus violating the whip issued by the party in the parliament. He then joined the Congress, but lost the general elections in 2009.

In another development, Kumar Bangarappa is also threatening to contest as a rebel candidate in Shimoga. As reported earlier, Manjunath Bhandary from Mangalore, the largely unknown face, considered an outsider in Shimoga, was confirmed the ticket here. Interestingly, Bhandary has still not received the B-form from the party, though he is planning to file nomination on Thursday March 20.

If the above three leaders plans to move out, then it could be setback for Congress in Karnataka. The latest NDTV pre-poll projected that the Congress will win only 6 seats in Karnataka, BJP 20 and JD(S) just 2.

Dear Mr. Sangliana, your time is up, better you get a DVD of Late Shankar Nag's Kannada movie "Sangliana" and watch it. As you know this movie was made about your life as a cop in Bengaluru, and producer of this film had requested your permission to shoot the film & you willingly granted it.
Why you are worried about politics at this age, you don't have that charisma once you had when you were a super cop and popular figure.
Time for you to consider some offers in Kannada films, may be you can start a fresh career in that field, like politics, there is no age limit in the film industry.
Good luck Mr. Sangliana in your future plans.

You have our sympathies as a politician and admiration for the job you did in the police service. Kannadigas salute you for that.

Cheer up, life is not so bad Mr. Sangliana. Take it easy.

I thought Mr. Sangliana who was an IPS Officer is an upright man. On the basis of his stature, he has been inducted into BJP fold and given a Lok Sabha seat. However, this man back stabed by voting for UPA. Joined Congress with high hope. But he is being thrown out. Madidunno Maharaya.

Sangliana & Jaffer Saab are spent forces & do not possess charisma nor energy now to attract young voters. They need to remain politically alive & hence are using these tactics to be in media. They are sure shot deposit losers in this game...Request DW to please shun these type of reports & focus on core issues in todays elections

All veterans, including LKA, not willing to give up ACTIVE POLITICS in favour of YOUNG GENERATION.
    Vajapayeeji is an exception.
These veterans should respectfully retire as they do in Corporate or sports world.
They should shun vigorous activities and lead prayer life and accept will of God for they have become old.
What do they think? The Young, like Robots, throughout their life should work under over aged veterans?

Both Jaffer & Sangliana, are very old and now became completely irrelevant in the current political situation. Better they should take rest in their native town till last breath.

All the unwanted things going out from the Congress is a good sign. BJP and JDS always alert to collect the garbage which thrown by congress. And Congress is clean now, but the BJP is filled with pollution.
