Bhatkal: Truck rams into three bikes - Two killed, four injured

Bhatkal, Mar 19: Two persons were killed on the spot and four others, including a senior citizen, were critically injured in a serial accident on NH 66 near Gunuwante, Manki here on Wednesday March 19.

The deceased were identified as Amitha (25) and Satish (27), residents of Shimoga. Both were employed in a private company at Kasarkod in Honnavar.

The accident occured when a truck loaded with arecanut sacks rammed into three bikes one after the other.

Nagendra Babu Poojary and Subbayya from Byndoor, Nikhil Salian and Latish Mendon from Malpe were injured in the accident. They were returning from Sirsi Mari Jatra riding towards Byndoor and Malpe when the truck plying towards Karwar rammed into them.

The injured were rushed to the RNS Hospital Murdeshwar.

The bodies were shifted to Honnavar Government Hospital for post-mortem.

Bhatkal DySP, Honnavar CPI, Honnawar PSI, Manki PSI along with local officers arrived at the spot.

Traffic on the highway was disrupted for several hours following the accident.

A case has been regestered in Manki police station

    Very cruel and sad accident by the truck damaging the two wheelers and their lives.Over speed is the cause of all these accidents.Our sincere condolences to the family of those expired and may the souls of departed rest in peace.Hope the police department will do the needful.Thanq.

    Nowadays, many lives are lost due to accidents with Truckers,bikes.was the Driver from truck drunk or had overweight?did anyone control?careless driving.Their license should be proved and cancelled.whoever has the fault.
