Puttur, Mar 19: A day after assistant election commissioner Dr Ashok filed a suo motu case against Congress Lok Sabha candidate Janardhan Poojary for his remark on BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's personal life, an unfazed Poojary hit back at the EC official and challenged him to find out the 'truth' about Modi.
Undetered by the case, Poojary said, "I have always treated women with great respect, and I have never made any false or abusive remarks on Modi's wife. I made my statements based on facts. Let the officer who filed a case against me first go to Gujarat and find out the truth about Narendra Modi."
He was addressing media persons in Puttur. "Modi promises a paradise if he is voted to power. First let him meet his wife and understand her problems and wipe her tears. BJP and RSS are indulging in false propaganda that he developed Gujarat akin to a paradise. But the fact is Modi grabbed lands from poor farmers and gave them to industrialists. He even failed to give suitable compensation to farmers who lost their lands," he alleged.
Meanwhile, K Monappa Bhandary, MLC and spokesperson of DK district BJP demanded the EC to file another case against Poojary for assuring voters of revoking the hiked property tax after elections. "By promising to reverse the property tax, Poojary has violated election code of conduct," he said.
