Mangalore, Mar 17: "The forthcoming Lok Sabha election will be a historic one between two major parties. Congress has ruled this country for over 60 years. BJP got the opportunity to rule only for a very short time when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was in power," said Tejaswini Ramesh.
Addressing a press meet at the district BJP office here on Monday March 17, she said, "Congress failed to fulfill the dreams of Indira Gandhi. Congress failed in preventing corruption, and ruined the economy with poor policies. Congress regime has dissatisfied the people."
"Congress is targeting Narendra Modi, using communal issues to play vote bank politics and defame him. This type of politics is against democracy. Congress failed to select a suitable PM candidate. Congress has no confidence to provide good leaders. It has failed to bring about pro-people programmes," she said.
"The common man is dreaming of seeing Modi as the PM of this nation. With an intention to make this nation a superpower, the BJP has boarded the election flight 2014 with Narendra Modi as the pilot," she added.
"Though there are several allegations against Congress leaders, due to pressure from people and the media, Congress dropped leaders like Ashok Chavan and Kalmadi, but later took them back. Congress is throwing dust in the eyes of people. The country is facing severe internal security problems like beheading of Indian soldiers by Pakistanis, Naxalisim, infiltration of Bangladeshis into Indian territories and so on. Congress-led UPA government completely failed in defense administration.
"We need to make this nation a superpower, hence people of Dakshina Kannada should vote for Nalin Kumar Kateel. This election is not Nalin Kumar Kateel versus Janardhan Poojary, it is of national interest. This is my first tour, and it has started from Dakshina Kannada. Udupi and Dakshina are two districts which gave strength to the BJP," she said.
On her role in the BJP, she said, "I joined BJP as I admire the ideology and principle of this party. I do not have any expectations. I will do whatever the party asks me to do."
Defending the BJP’s rule in Karnataka, Tejaswini said, "After 65 years of Congress administration, the BJP came to power in the state for 5 years. It was killed in the infant stage itself. Overall, the BJP is far better than Congress."
She further said, "When there were church attacks in Mangalore, the Human Rights activists spoke about it German parliament. But when a girl was raped in Deralakatte no human right activists raised their voice - this exposes the masks they had worn."
Taking a dig at the state government and minister D K Shivakumar without naming him, she said, "RTI activists are threatened, their life is at risk. Reporters were assaulted but the government is not ready file FIR against the minister. Is there any law in place? Home minister K J George cannot exercise his power because of Congress dictatorship."
Accusing the Congress of appeasing minorities, Tejaswini said, "Congress is appeasing Muslims for minority votes. Today I challenge Congress to say that they want only Muslim votes and not any Hindu votes. Congress should never forget that Hindu Mahasabha gave birth to Congress. Never hurt the dignity of Hindus. It should also remember that Hindus have a right."
Defending RSS leader Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat with regard to recent clashes at Kalladka during Congress harmony convention, she said, "Congress organized the harmony meet to target Dr Bhat. In India it is inevitable that both Hindus and Muslims should live with unity. Congress is telling lies that Muslims will not vote for BJP, they will. Muslims should not see BJP through Congress' eyes."
Defending former CM Yeddyurappa’s induction into BJP, she said, "Congress is unfairly targeting BJP over Yeddurappa issue. Yeddurappa has realized his mistakes."
On this occasion Sulochana G K Bhat, Shantha R, Pushpalatha Gatti and others were present.
