Panaji, Mar 17: Noted Konkani poet and the recipient of the Goa State Award Yusuf A Sheikh said that imparting education without a strong sense of reasoning power imbibed in the student community would be meaningless. The whole generation of youth should be able to differentiate between right and wrong without falling prey blindly to the sermons of the selfish leaders.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a function organized to mark annual day of the Blooming Dales Nursery and Pre-Primary School at Vasco recently.
“Credibility in all walks of life today is at its lowest ebb and everybody doubts sincerity of others. Humanity and human values seem to be not much cared for and such a pathetic situation does not ensure a bright futre” added Sheikh.
He said that right since the prime time of childhood, one should be made to grow with enthusiasm and regard for righteousness. Pointing at a tiny tot who presented himself as Krishna during fancy dress competition, Sheikh said that it should remind us of the battle of Krukshetra that portrayed struggle between good and the evil forces. Truth and righteousness always attract victory.
“Unity of hearts would follow victory to us in all spheres of life”, Poet Yusuf futher said. He also urged to strengthen the hands of the management by humble donations as it served a noble cause.
Saifulla Khan, ex-mayor of Mormugao Municipal Council who was the guest of honour appealed to think in the direction of achieving progress with unity as our instrument of strength. He said that we should strive at involving students in national building activities. Nursery school was a stepping stone to inculcate interest for a positive and collective growth, he said.
Saifulla Khan complimented Hasan Khan, the amanager of the school for his tremendous interest in imparting education.
A section of parents also spoke on the occasion and lauded praiseworthy efforts of the school in giving personal attention to the tiny tots. Also present were Ashok Chodanker, editor of Konkonn Divo, Vishwanath Sawanth, noted violin artist and ex -under secretary of RTI, Akbar Khan, teachers, parents and relatives of the school children.
