Bantwal: Man arrested for torturing wife, attempting to molest sister-in-law

Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal

Bantwal, Mar 17: Vittal police have arrested a man from Mumbai for allegedly trying to kill his wife and attempting to molest his sister-in-law.

Haneef alias Jogi Haneef (31), hailing from Mumbai Seeta camp, was arrested on Saturday March 14 night in the two cases that were reported five months ago.

It is said that the accused had married Selima (28) of Neerkaje near Kukkebettu. He later started torturing her physically and mentally for dowry, it is said.

Last October he reportedly attempted to kill his wife, causing serious injuries to her. She had filed a complaint in this regard in Vittal police station.

After a few days, in a bid to threaten the family for filing a complaint against him, he reportedly intimidated his sister-in-law and allegedly tried to molest her at her residence. Following this incident, the sister-in-law filed a complaint in Vittal police station.

Police during investigation visited Haneef's wife and after collecting information, left for Salethur, where he was arrested and produced in the court. He was remanded in judicial custody.

@ Madhav Udupi / mane. Trust me , i do not know him. Every news has the other side , its sad that its never been heard. So far Indian law not sensitive to men in distress times . The above situation can b far result of torture inferioted on him by his wife. But to complain he has no clauses to support him .

It's just takes a phone call to arrest and she can find money from nirbaya fund. Hungry mouths, including infants is not a big issue for the government, but it kept money to fund the above cases , where in most cases women take advantage it. Just think , there is no NGO to support men and u will be clueless about it. If you get statistics suicide cases in married men is highest in the country and govt not bothered about it because people like u r always silent. Just think

OMG!! Again, another dowry related issue!!

Mostly, a typographical error in the news report, the place in Mumbai mentioned should be "Cheeta Camp" and not "Sita Camp"!!!

Looks like another false case. After Home ministry directory to all police stations to make 498 A bailable and tried in family court . Also FIR should not be lodged until unless there is grievous injury. If pretty quarrel over disputes should not end in sex assault cases , which is gross injustice on part of men. Also police should be sensitive enough to accept complaints from men , if they are assaulted by women including wife and sister in law.
