Mangalore, Mar 17: The car that was involved in an accident at Ladyhill on Monday March 17 was driven by a minor, police sources said.
It had been earlier said that the Maruti Ritz car that rammed into an electric pole reportedly belonged to a former state minister, but the police did not confirm the same.
The Maruti Ritz car, with registeration number KA 14 1222, was being driven by Anoop (17), son of Mohan Kumar. He was driving without a licence.
The car went out of control and drove on to the footpath before smashing into the electric pole.
The front portion of the car was completely damaged, and the electric pole was dislocated.
Luckily, no injuries were reported.
Including Anoop, there were three or four other persons in the car. All of them escaped from the spot soon after the accident.
Police sources said that Anoop and his father were fined and no case was registered. Mohan Kumar agreed to pay for the damage caused, police said.
