Mangalore: New showroom of Malaika Retail opens at Thokkottu

Mangalore, Mar 16: Mumbai-based Malaika Multi-brand Retail Store, a sister concern of Malaika Group, opened its new showroom, the second one in Mangalore taluk, at REB Complex, Thokkottu here on Sunday March 16.

Malaika Silk Saris Emporium, a readymade garments outlet and the office of Malaika Multi-State Credit Society were also inaugurated on the occasion.

While minister for health and family welfare U T Khadar inaugurated the showroom, Ullal Sri Cheerumbha Bhagavati Kshetra president Chandrahas Ullal opened the Saris Emporium and Ullal town councilor Girija M and Bantwal Bar Council Association former president advocate Ashwanikumar Rai inaugurated the Malaika Credit Society by launching its website.

Fr Gregory D'Souza, parish priest of Joseph Vaz Church, Mudipu blessed the occasion. Ullal Juma Masjid and Sayyid Muhammad Shareeful Madani Dargah president Al-Haji U S Hamza and Malaika Group founder Gilbert Baptist, MLA J R Lobo and others were present on the dais.

Addressing the gathering, U T Khadar recalled, "When Malaika opened its first Mangalore showroom at Hampankatta Gilbert Baptist had suggested that I should become a minister. At the same time I had wished he would open a showroom at Thokkottu. This is a special moment, as both the suggestions have come true because of each other's wishes."

He also added that with Malaika's new showroom, Thokkottu has become a landmark.

Lauding Gilbert Baptist and the Malaika Group, J R Lobo said, "A person who went to Mumbai for a job has today achieved so much through his hard work and dedication. He has opened showrooms in different places and even launched his own brand by the name Yasoma. May he continue to achieve greater heights. I wish him all success."

Gilbert Baptist welcomed the gathering.
