Mangalore, Mar 16: Former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa on Sunday March 16 inaugurated a BJP workers' convention at AB Shetty hall here.
Addressing the gathering he said, "Throughout the nation there is a wave of BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. Ever since the announcement of Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate there is growing enthusiasm among the people of the nation. Several youths and people are coming forward to make Modi as the Prime Minister of India."
He further said, "The country is not safe under Congress-led UPA government which is immersed in corruption. Women cannot walk freely without fear. The government has failed to control inflation. Narendra Modi should become the PM of this nation if we need solutions to all these problems.
"Narendra Modi is not just a person but a superpower. Due to the influence of Modi, this time the BJP will win more than 20 constituencies in the state. After this election Congress will be entirely wiped out," he added.
Taking a dig at Congress candidate Janardhana Poojary, he said Poojary should not disrupt peace or indulge in communalism.
MP candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "This election is not about Janardhana Poojary versus Nalin Kumar Kateel but it is an election between nationality versus pseudo-nationality. In the last election it was not the victory of Nalin Kumar but the victory of BJP. Though I had no experience, central reports say I was the leadng MP in the state having used the MP fund to the maximum. Without any ego, I have taken people, party workers and MLAs into consideration during my tenure. I urge people to give me opportunity again so that I can work for the development this constituency."
More than 50 workers from Congress including former corporator James D’ Souza, Muralidhar Bolar, Jude and others joined BJP on the occasion. K S Eshwarappa and district president Pratap Simha Nayak welcomed them.
Hundreds of BJP party workers took part in the convention.
On this occasion leaders like Ravishankar Mizar, D Vedhvyasa Kamath, Sudheer Shetty and others were present.
