Mangalore, Mar 16: The inaugural function of ‘Spectrum- 2014’ (Symposium on Cardiovascular Therapies and Research Update-Mangalore), was held at teh conference hall, A J Institute of Medical Sciences on Saturday March 15.
Chief guest, A J Shetty, president of Laxmi Memorial Education Trust ®, along with other dignitaries on the dais inaugurated the event by lighting the auspicious lamp.
Dr Ajith Mullasari, head of cardiology, Madras Medical Mission, Chennai, was the guest of honour. Dr K S S Bhat, Dr Nagaraj Desai, Dr Ramesh Rai, Dr Purushotham Pai, and Dr B V Manjunath were also present on the dais.
Dr B V Manjunath, organizing chairman, welcomed the gathering to the event.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Mullasari said prevention is the bench mark of treatment for cardio-related diseases. The cardio-related conference will address various issues and help in getting collection measures and information with regard to the treatment system that is to be implemented.
In his address, Dr Desai said the print media and the electronic media play a very important role in spreading the message of this conference as it is awareness of the preventive measures that is to be followed with regards to cardio-related diseases. “Cardio diseases in youngsters have been increasing and the main reason for this is their food habits such as junk food and bakery items. Proper awareness can control the disease up to a certain extent.”
Shetty also spoke on the occasion and expressed his gratitude to the organizers and the delegates for such a unique and important event.
Dr R Purushotham, organizing secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
