Udupi, Mar 14: The police on Friday March 14 arrested a juvenile in connection to the mysterious death of Naveen (5) of Dharshree Colony, Pamboor here, who went missing in February and whose skeletal remains were found about a fortnight later on a hillock after an extensive search.

The arrested juvenile, Vikas (named changed) allegedly used the victim for obtaining sexual pleasure before killing him.

Naveen, son of Nagaraj and Asha from Tamil Nadu was residing with his parents at Dharmashree Colony, Pamboor. On February 23, Naveen was seen playing in the courtyard of his home, just before he went missing. He had told the family that he was going to visit the house of his maternal uncle in the neighbourhood, but did not return home.

Vikas allegedly lured him with a chocolate and took him to a forest area located near to Dharmashree Colony.

In the forest he allegedly indulged in sexual acts with the child. When Naveen cried in pain and said that he would report this to his father, Vikas grew frightened and allegedly strangled him to death.

Sources said that Vikas then dumped the body among the bushes and returned to the colony at night. He even joined the locals in searching for Naveen and managed to throw them off the track.

A search operation to trace the missing child headed by superintendent of police Dr Boralingaiah and ASP Annamalai was launched. Four separate teams were formed to investigate the case, and about 40 persons in the village were questioned.

Naveen's skeletal remains, clothes and footwear were found on March 9 on a hillock at Pamboor.

The police who initially investigated the case suspecting that a family clash might have led to the murder, later looked into sexual abuse angle too. They learnt that about a year ago Vikas had reportedly used children for gay sex. They took him into custody and during interrogation, the matter came to light.

It is said that when Vikas was caught sexually abusing children a year ago, the villagers had chased him away to Tamil Nadu. He returned to the colony just about two months ago. Though he hails from Tamil Nadu, he was born in Kerala. He resides in a hut in Dharmashree Colony with his parents and four elder siblings.

One and only way is chemical castration, if this is implemented only then girls and even boys can take a sigh of relief.

Ethan, it shows your mentality. Don't support so publicly, a 5 year old child is dead here what was his fault. You r saying it is not the fault of the murdering homo. If your child goes thru this stage, then only u will know. Parents take so much of a pain to bring up the child in the early stage of their life. For you it seems to be a play.

WILSON, MANGALORE it seems you do not understand English and the sarcasm in my write up!

I do not defend Gays, I am against defending gays, because being gay is a mental or genetic sickness which should be treated like any other sickness, but the whole Gay community and others want to accept them as "Normal" with a different "Sexual Orientation" which even the Indian SC (Supreme Court) has rejected. The psychologists will "Analyze" this "Situation" and come to such "conclusions"!! (oh God got to explain sarcasms too I am sure this guy will have no clue on "close Inverted comma's" too!!

What a pity an innocent child lost his life. May this angel enjoy in the Kingdom of God, where he will never have to go through the fear and pain he must have encountered during the last few minutes of his short life :(. My heartfelt sympathies to his family. It is also sad that the parents and siblings of the suspect will be branded and ridiculed by the society for the rest of their lives. What caught my eyes is the pose of our police officer. Is he flexing his muscles in front of those hearts broken parents or was he tired from 2 weeks of searching for the missing boy? Hope our officers learn to respect the sentiments of people going through pain for no fault of theirs.

Now the Gay ( Homo) Liberation front shall be active because all the Homos and their supporters always allege that they are born that way so it is beyond the reach of science to correct but should be accepted, now let us also accept a murdering Homo as per the Homologix!, because basically it is not his problem but his gene has to be blamed or his parents or his grandparents or someone but not the murdering Homo.

His violent sexual inclination & murderous behavior make him unfit to lead his life, with the main stream of the society. He should be behind bars till for till death.
In future if he gets married, then even his children may face the same fate or else they also become sexual predators like him

I feel there is only 50% validity of the version the police have come up with.

    (1) If the accused had done the dirty deed, why did he not flee as it happened in the previous cases of gay relationship where he was chased away to TN ?

    (2) The only reason to believe that he carried out the gruesome killing is, if it is to be believed that he diverted searching villagers away from the location.

I have all reasons to believe that the police have caught hold of him only because of his past record - not a commendable glory they earned with a great difficulty because the department will be answerable if they did nothing !

    Shankar,

Human rights for who ? The one who is not even an adult yet, but already involved in sexual abuse ? Please don't put so much pressure on your brain.

If Human Rights should be applied the accused, what about the parents of the little child ? Height of insanity !

If any anything is implied here, that is 'passing- the-buck' behavior of the police!

    Ms. Lydia,
Are you a politician? You changed your stance to 180 degrees in a matter of hours!
In your first comment u raised two points, first giving a clean certificate to the accused that ‘ he would have fled if he had committed the crime’. In the second point u ascertain his innocence, saying that there is no other proof other than that he had diverted the searching villagers from the actual location.
In the second comment you are totally against the culprit!
Now please enlighten us all what is sanity? Your support to the accused in the first place OR your change of stance in a matter of hours OR my stand where I say even if this culprit was caught by mistake he should be punished for his earlier crimes and a possible threat to the society should be eliminated.

It is a possibility as there is a tendency of the authorities, just to ease the pressure, to arrest somebody on mere suspicion based on past history. But, to convict him will require solid proof like DNA testing, etc. which evidence seems to have gotten lost in this case as the innocent victim is no more!!

Let's hope and pray that no innocent is sent to jail!!

Looks like the police have chosen a path of least resistance...lets see how they prove this....

Many morons think Police accusing anybody is end of the story...

Lets see the first cause of death by the forensic report before opening big mouth...If this really happened as alleged then the one who made it is worse than "Wild Animal"...

Handwriting analysis of the letter written to parents could shed more light to towards accused ....

This is very unfortunate development that in view of open media the juveniles are more prone to major crimes, including sexual assault. The court and the government study this and really redefine the word 'juvenile'.Thanq.

Gays are much more widespread in society now than anybody can ever imagine!! Parents must take extra care of children nowadays unlike erstwhile times when it was thought that the girl child only was in danger of predators!!

The death penalty is THE ONLY SOLUTION FOR RAPE CASE, else the day will come no minor girl can walk on the road, or go outside. Every 2 and a half minutes one rape case happens in India. Only 20% cases are registered.
