Mangalore, Mar 14: Anand Lobo and Jerardin D'souza being influenced by the noble work being done by Dr Kiran Bedi, at the Tihar Jail, for the children of the jail inmates, have floated a foundation ,'Inspire India Foundations' IIF recently.
They met the Jail Superintendent Ramesh in Mangalore in a bid to render their services. Speaking to the DIG V S Raja, who suggested that they visit the exclusive Women's Prison in Tumkur.
During their travel, the members got to know of the way prisoners use their time spent in jail to make chocolates, cookies and even shirts which are imported benefitting the prisoners. Service activities were discussed at the DGP chambers. IIF will be supporting the Mangalore Prison especially in sports activities.
IIF also visited the Government higher primary school at Bejai-Kapikad. Cupboards, school uniforms and other school utilities, better toilet facilities will be provided to the school.
A hostel for the orphans 'Chinnara Thangudhama will be provided with the neccessary amenities. Teachers for the school and volunteers that can help the students build up their skills and crafts will be provided.
Indoor games like, chess, carrom, scrabble, and other board games to be encouraged and facilities provided. A school bus or van is planned to ferry children from afar. The strength of the school is dwindling as many are construction laborers children who move away.
IIF consists of Anand Lobo and Jerardin Dsouza with the cause of social committment on their agenda.
The chairman Anand Lobo, hails from Bejai Kapikad.He has been in the Middle East for over 35 years. He has been active as a cultural ambassador of Mangalore in the Middle East.
The philanthropic NRI's want to fund the needy and deserving people. Lobo is channelizing these resources to reach the under privileged through 'IIF.
Jerardin D'souza, is a qualified chartered engineer. He heads the Spandhana Trust along with his brother Joel Dsouza.
The trust is currently helping people affected by Alzheimer's sysndrome.
