Udupi, Mar 14: “A utensil that has been held upside down does not fill even when it rains heavily. Likewise, we can collect morsels of Lord’s kindness and largesse, only when we turn our hearts towards Him,” advised Sri Mate Matanandamayi of Odeyoor. She was delivering benedictory address at the ‘Matru Sangama’ programme organized on the occasion of ‘Brahmakalashotsava’ of Kodavoor Lord Shankaranarayana Temple near here.

Shakuntala Aiyar, who addressed the gathering, exhorted people to impart refinement and true culture to the children since a young age, if they expect them to be noble citizens when they grow up.

Before this programme, over 5,000 women belonging to various women’s organizations came to the venue of the programme in a procession.  Hayavadana Tantri Puttur directed religious procedures on account of Brahmakalashotsava of the temple. The procedures involved Ganayaga, re-consecration of the Lord’s idol, consecration of family deities, puja as well as community feast, among others.

Delivering benedictory address at the religious meet organized on the occasion, Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejavar Mutt exhorted people to be united against social evils, injustices, and also to protect the country and its culture. Sri Vidyaprasannateertha of Subrahmanya Mutt wished that culture and trust in god will get more and more deep-rooted in the minds of the people, a purpose to serve which temples function.

MP, Jayaprakash Hegde, MLA, Pramod Madhwaraj, municipal president, Yuvaraj P, former MLA, Raghupati Bhat, and several others were present in the capacity of chief guests.  A grand car festival was also organized.

Sri Sugunendrateertha Swamiji of Puttige Mutt inaugurated cultural programmes. Devotional CD in Kannada and Tulu created by Samskriti Creations and sponsored by Kamblakatta Kodavoor Yuva Buntara Sangha was unveiled on the occasion.  A souvenir, ‘Shreesham Vaibhava’, was also published to commemorate the occasion.

Sri Vishwapriyateertha Swamiji of Admar Mutt, Sri Vishwavallabhateertha Sripad of Sode Mutt, and several other dignitaries were present.

A beautiful temple rebuilt in the same old architecture. What was amazing is the involvement of the public of every religion and sect at every stage in this event.
