Mangalore, Mar 13: “Educare”, is an initiative of a Mangalorean Catholic NRI to assist the poor and needy Mangalorean Catholic students of Mangalore and Udupi Dioceses. Last year 544 students got help through this scheme in these two Dioceses. It is an interest-free loan to be repaid within a period of maximum 18 months after the completion of studies. Only those students studying above PUC (Graduation, Post graduation & Diploma) and who scored minimum of 50% in their last exam can apply for this loan scheme. While disbursing this Education Loan priority will be given to the students belonging to the orphan families, Coolie labourers families, families with members suffering from chronic illness, families with two or more students studying and families with less than 2,00,000/ annual income.
The funds allotted are for the following courses:
Engineering – 90 students will get Rs 50,000 each
Medical – 12 students will get Rs 1 lackh each
Paramedical – 21 students will get Rs 50,000 each
Post graduation – 60 students will Rs 50,000 each
Bed, BSc Nursing – 75 students will get Rs 30,000 each
Graduation – 150 students will get Rs 20,000 each
Students can submit their applications before due dates even if the admissions will be held later. Applications which reach CODP after the due date will not be considered. Only those applications which are furnished correctly and fully will be considered for selection. Students are advised to read the instructions found in the application (page 5) before filing them.
The last date to receive applications is as follows
• For the renewal applications 30.04.2014
• For fresh graduation application 15.05.2014
• For fresh post graduation applications 15.06.2014
• For B.Ed and Nursing 30.09.2014
Once the applications are received, interview of the students who have applied will be taken in order to make sure that they are deserving candidates. The final list of students will be forwarded to Educare donor who will sanction the amount and then disbursement will be done by CODP.
