Mangalore, Mar 11: Sr Shobha Maria Myrtle has been awarded the Doctor of Philosophy degree by Mangalore University for her thesis "A Study on the Effectiveness of Strategies Based on Bruner's Instructional Design on Achievement in Mathematics and Problem Solving Ability Among Secondary School Students with Different Cognitive Styles.”
The doctorate was awarded to her by the varsity during its 32nd convocation held here recently.
The research was carried out by her under the guidance of Dr Vijaya Kumari S N. Sr Myrtle presently teaches at St Anne's College of Education, Mangalore.
Sr Myrtle is the seventh of nine children of late S M D'Souza of Farla, Bantwal. One of her elder sisters is also a nun. Her late father is the elder brother of Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D' Souza.
