Tumkur, Mar 11: The man behind much controversial Netravati River Diversion Project and Veteran in the field of irrigation Dr G S Paramashivaiah(97) has passed away after succumbing to heart attack on Tuesday, Mar 11.
Paramashivahia who was suffering from breathing problem was earlier admitted to a private hospital of Tumkur, where he breathed his last.
He has fought to upgrade the parched districts of Karnataka by installing permanent water projects. He also submitted the project report of Netravati river diversion project to the government and warned the government of staging a hunger protest in front of Vidhana Sowdha, if government fails to implement the project.
